I've added this song BACK to the list of "unknown songs", as the thread we had started on Feb. 28 has been deleted below (must have been too old).
Anyway, somebody mentioned it may be "Hohokam - Don't you know", and I was JUST able to hear that song for the first time today and it is indeed NOT Hohokam.
Somebody else mentioned the artist, "Fabrizio Z" and the song called "Dreamlight", which Paul is looking into as we speak. Does anybody else have any more information about this song?
Thanks

Hi Cory:
This clip is quite a bit longer than the first posting. Where were you able to find this one?
david
From Cory, 5/28/2003 12:47:54 PM:
Hi David!
Paul had pointed to a German Newsgroup site where people were also trying to name the song...on that site the .mp3 file was a bit larger than the one posted here.
I've scoured the web for the last 3 days trying to find every possible combination of the lyrics, the song title "Dreamlight" (and all other possible song titles). I've had a few leads, but everything I track down is wrong. I was hoping for SURE it was Hohokam, but Paul was right...the accept isn't the same...and it wasn't. I would say this song falls in the 1985-87 year range. Just a guess, but it sounds too "Synthpop" to be early 80's, but not synthpop'ish enough to be early 90's. If that makes any sense! :)

I would have been surprised if it was HoHoKam. The music style didn't seem to fit. The Fabrizio Z thing was a guess based on the Italo disco talk from the other thread. In listening to the shorter clip for a possible title, Dreamlight seemed possible (especially as all the other suggestions were dead ends.) I went to an ItaloDisco site and typed in dreamlight and this artist popped up. What the hell, it was a long shot.
I still think the best odds to solve this song are the ItaloDisco sites, as this song has ItaloDisco written all over it. I agree with you timeframe for the song.
I guess we'll all keep searching...

From Cory, 5/28/2003 4:13:42 PM:
I agree 100%...it does sound very Italo. I hit a number of Italo groups over the past few days on SoulSeek, hoping to find someone who's heard of Fabrizio Z, with no luck. I'll point them to this thread and ask them to have a listen...maybe they can help.

The song dilema has been SOLVED!!!!
Artist: Story Structure Song Title: I Told You
David, you were right...it's an Italo track circa the mid 80's. A wonderful person by the name of "Waldi" saw my question on an Italo Group on SoulSeek and he sent me the file via MP3.
Funny thing...the song sounds 100% different when the quality is good! It sounds a bit slower than the version that's been floating around, and his voice sounds slightly different, but it's the EXACT same song! Which leads me to believe the version I have (4:24 mins) is a 7" version, and the version that we're hearing is a Remix or Dance Mix of some sort.
I did manage to find 1 site who lists a 6 minute version of the song!! Now we must track that down!!!!
Woo hoo!
Cory
From David, 5/28/2003 5:48:52 PM:
I think you are right about about the clip. If you listen at the end you can hear a second song being mixed in. Probably a club or DJ tape. That could also explain the difference in song tempo.
Great work Cory!!

If you crank the song up 6%, it sounds identical to the clip. (amazing how a bit of a speed change can improve a song, it just seems to be more alive when speeded up.) Let me know if you would like a copy.

Hi again,
Has anyone found any info on "Story Structure" Cant find anything on them, except for the comp Dave found. Did you guys read about the upcoming CFNY reunion.

I can't find a thing on them other than the odd listing for the same comp CD mentioned above. Probably an "Eight Point Five" type of group (in case you aren't familiar with them, they released 1 fantastic single on Epic and then disappeared). I'd be interested in hearing anything else they may have done, but there isn't much to go on. I'll keep looking though....

Hi!
Does anybody have that song on harddisk? If yes, would it be possible to send me the file or upload it to some webspace?
Thanks a lot.

I'm so sorry for asking what's already been answered in that other thread! I know I've posted hastily before, too. D'oh.
I'd love to pester someone for that speeded up version as well, but I'm.. in between countries, let us say, and have no means. I hope someone will remember me if I ask for it again a few months from now when I don't find it on SoulSeek first. :)
Till then, regards to all.
