There's a song from the mid-80s by who CFNY identified only as Johansen. It's upbeat and called something like Walking a Fine Line; at least that's what the lyrics would suggest...
I feel like I'm walkin a fine line -
O o ohhhh
There's been so many times that I feel like walkin' away....

Any suggestions on the real name and singer of this song? It was so awesome.

Thanks ahead of time

From Bill O'Shea, 8/1/2005 9:33:51 PM:

A truely great song. I have the album, but no
turn table handy. The lyrics below are from memory
but are resonably close. Hope that helps.

Another day comes, another day goes
No further ahead, we're just growin old
Another billed paid, still more take it's place
How did we ever get this way.

I know we don't live on the high side of town
but it's killin' me to see you always down
When you ask what do we do I never know what to say
Wish I could make it all go away

[Chorus]
I feel like I'm walkin' a fine line
I feel like I'm walkin' a fine line

Can't seem to shake this mood
I can't ease the strain.
I can see your frustration
I can feel your pain.
Can't tell one day from another
Nothin' seems to change
How did we ever get this way

We've got to believe that things will change
It's gotta get better, it can't stay the same
Hold on to your dreams, don't let them fade away
I just can't live like this another day

[Chorus]

Hold on to me, don't ever let go

From Bill O'Shea, 8/1/2005 9:38:45 PM:

Hold on to me, don't ever let go
Cause I need your lovin'
Won't you let it show
The last part was cut off. Here it is.

There's been so many times
when I felt like walkin' away
But something always held me
Something made we want to stay

Open your heart girl
Cause I feel like I'm walkin' a fine line

From Pat, 8/1/2005 10:35:22 PM:

I SO want this song. Can't seem to find it anywhere outside of UK.

I also have been searching for that song for years, it's one of my favorites! The only source I've found is on 45rpm record, available at:

I'll post if I find any digital version!

I updated the lyrics posted above:

Johansen Ė Walkiní a Fine Line

Another day comes, another day goes
No further ahead, we're just growin old
Another bill fades, till more take it's place
How did we ever get this way.

I know we don't live on the high side of town
but it's killin' me to see you always down
When you ask what do we do I never know what to say
Wish I could make it all go away

[Chorus]
I feel like I'm walkin' a fine line Donít make me feel . . .
I feel like I'm walkin' a fine line

Can't seem to shake this mood
I can't ease the strain.
I can see your frustration
I can feel your pain.
Can't tell one day from another
Nothin' seems to change
How did we let it all slip away

Have we forgotten the dreams that we once shared
As the days're growin' colder do you even care?
When I reach out to you you seem so far away
Just canít keep going on this way,

[Chorus]

Some nights I lay awake too tired to sleep
And I think about the way that it us

From Els, 1/8/2006 10:09:00 PM:

Message got cut off, here's the rest of the song:

Some nights I lay awake too tired to sleep
And I think about the way that it used to be
I can hear your laugh, I can feel your touch
Oh I miss it all so much

We've got to believe that things will change
It's gotta get better, it can't stay the same
Hold on to your dreams, don't let them fade away
I just can't live like this another day

[Chorus]
I feel like I'm walkin' a fine line
Donít make me feel . . .
like I'm walkin' a fine line

From Carl Johansen, 4/19/2006 11:58:30 PM:

His name is Glen Johansen, he lives in Barbados and is my uncle. you can check out his website at www.lilrock.com and ask him yourself :)

From Isabel, 6/30/2006 10:12:44 AM:

I love this song. I wrote out the lyrics because I couldn't find them. And I had to record the song onto my comp as it seems to not even be online. It's a good song, but so hard to find.

From Barbara Ralph, 7/10/2006 4:57:09 PM:

Is Glen Johansen still in Barbados? I found his site
but his e-mail is still not responding. Would someone let me know please. I am in Toronto and he sang at my wedding in 1980. I lost contact with him when he moved to Barbados.

From Andy Palidwor, 9/17/2010 6:08:08 PM:

I have a cassette for that LP
It included Pictures on a Screen

"Whatever happened to Perry Mason
Did he marry Della Street
Is Paul Drake still pounding the pavement
Did Drake ever walk a beat

Is Gilligan still on the island
Kissing Ginger and Maryanne
Does the Major still dream of Genie
If he can't get her than no one can

Well they're alright
I watch them every night
Just pictures on a screen....."

From Andy Palidwor, 9/17/2010 6:10:10 PM:

From Russ Strathdee, 9/30/2015 2:52:17 AM:

As the Sax player on Glen's "Johansen" album, I too would like to keep in touch with Glen, ever since he left Toronto. His web site is no more.
It is so cool to read about all the interest in his songs!

From Stephen, 6/2/2018 8:35:21 AM:

There is some album info at https://www.discogs.com/Johansen-Walkin-A-Fine-Line/release/3507612 They have some links to youtube videos
