The brother has gone to C-FOX in Vancouver as of last Friday Jan 27,2004. I believe it's also owned by Chorus and has a similar EDGE style format.

The Brother (a.k.a. Neil Morrison) was the last remaining 'Spirit' era employee/on air personality(?). Although I dont think he was on air until 1990 or so doing his awsome overnight shows. He was the last one to be able to program his own tunes in that timeslot(while the rest of the day was pre-programmed FM-102 top 40 - Modonna etc. Remember hearing Random Killing - Patios & Beer with The Government - Flat Tire!!) I believe he worked in the music department and the roadshow during the late 80's - along with delivering pizzas from the Pizza Pizza in my old Brampton 'hood. Hung out one night at a mutual friends drinking & listening to Monty Python records then headed to the station & took calls during Deadly Hedleys' show. That was interesting.. Sorry to hear he's gone. (Coles reuniun??)
Good luck Mr. Morrison!

Billy, I wish you the very best, your show was the only show that kept me listening over the last few years (besides Alan's History show). I have a lot of fond memories of you, Visjna, Alan, Maie, Martin, Kim, Bookie, and Humble etc. I hope that CFOX is available on the Net. Cheers!

hello here and greetings from vancouver. firstly, thanks everyone ( even you 'lurch', ya stalker! ) for all the kind words i read here. that excludes the not-so-nice 'truthman'. but hey, everyone has an opinion. and his is too deep for words. to quote the beastie boys, here's a little story that i gots to tell...' i left the station at the end of january and the calls, and people who dropped in was overwhelming to say the least. i had such a great day and i had such a great 15 years at cfny. for those who don't know.... i started in 1998 as an operator or 'op' for the jazz show, daddy cool's blues show and the streets of ontario. i still remember the first day i walked in and sat a round and watch liz and peter's then 6 year old run the halls. i ran into him at the reunion last year. he's now in his mid 20's....yikes! so i remember the beginning, and i remember the end. in between, it's a little foggy. steady. no need to comment. anyway, i am totally blessed that i was able to work at one of the last ture pioneering radio stations in the world. from the day don berns hired me in 1998 i knew i would love it. berns sat behind his huge desk with a big frown on his face. "so you want to be in radio " he said. frankly, the guy scared the •••• out of me...until he put his feet up on the desk and was wearing 'bullwinkle' slippers. that was don. one of the best. ah hell, i could go on forever.. but maybe i should just write a book.....

CFOX is a HUGE disappointment. They were pretty good for a while there... until they killed off X FM (they were kind of alt) and within 2 weeks were right back on the Aerosmith / ACDC train. Now I bought a big antenna for my car and I listen to a REAL Alt station- 107.7 The End. (Shaw cable FM 107.5) This weekend they've gone all punk both new and old-school. (Jim Carroll, Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, Ramones, Iggy Pop, NOFX) Right now they're playing Johnny Cash's "Man In Black". (It's what the DJ wanted). Except for the odd dial flip to Victoria's
[email protected] and Old-School on the Beat 94.5, my Canadian radio time has deteriorated to minutes a month.
