Kaos - not sure what you meant by your first sentence. I was one of the two posts that you are refferring to. A big deal was made when Alan Cross came back to CFNY and I was merely stating that it doesn't make a difference. The 'good old' days are gone and you are correct on one thing...CBC Radio is a lot more progressive.

Calling people idiots is not conducive to having a good discussion. Address the argument, don't attack the person. Anyway, the point I was trying to make is that CFNY never cared about genres. They played rap, modern rock, romantic, goth, new wave, ska, electronic, rock, punk, dance, industrial, whatever. What made the station "alternative" was that the music was an alternative to the corporate mainstream that all other stations were playing.
"Alternative" as it's defined by the corporate media now is supposedly a genre and all those "alternative" franchised radio stations are playing everything with the "alternative" sticker from the record label. The point is: alternative is not one genre of music. Yeah, we won't change anything but so what?, we can still exchange ideas.

MP: what I meant was that it seemed obvious that you & edgesucks didn't really know the cfny that was being refered to here. You saved yorself with that last post though.. That whole "alternative" stuff. Progressive radio is a MUCH better term i think...
