Does anyone have Hardest Hits Vol. 1 that I could purchase. I have all of the other ones, but am missing the first volume. Any help would be much appreciated

I have it. I don't know how I got so lucky. My boyfriend bought it years ago for me, having no idea it would be so rare.
Sorry, I would never part with it though. Maybe for a million bucks. Ha ha.

I found it 'USED' a couple of years ago.
Shockingly, A second copy appeared only a month later! That's the only time(s) I've seen it.

I looked up on Gemm and there are lots of Vol 2-5, but only one of Vol 1. It's $99.00! So if you want the original copy, this is what you will be looking at for a price. I did make a copy for a friend once and he was happy with that. If you are interested let me know.

I can't believe this compilation is that rare! I got mine when it was released, and "a friend" of a guy I knew was interested in paying me $100 for it about 5 years ago, but I kind of assumed that the offer was BS. Geez, I'll just rip the tracks and put'em on Kazaa...

It's rare and sought after simply because of the fact that it was available for only 3 years 1991 - 1994 and there are a lot of people who either didn't know of it's existence or didn't bother to pick it up while it was in the stores. Considering the track listing and the fact a number of the songs have never appeared on CD anywhere else, it's no suprise an original sells for as much as it does. The recording level of that volume was very low. Make a second copy and boost it to bring it in line closer to industry standard.

I think that it was actually a 'limited edition', only a certain number made (I've heard 5,000).

Weird that SPG wouldn't re-release it being that it's so sought after, but it could be a legal thing (not being able to get the rights to make more copies). I know I've asked them a couple times if they would re-release it, however, the more requests they get, the more likely they might think it's a worthwhile project.

I think the remaining volumes were larger production runs, but I've noticed the supply of those has begun to dry up (actually, I saw most of those in discount bins a couple years ago) The way things work in the music business are pretty screwy sometimes.

I used to work for the company, 1993-1995, and helped select tracks for this series. You're right as far as the legalities are concerned. They would have had to renegotiate the length of time the release would be available. I believe the company produced in the neighbourhood of around 10,000. The company always wanted this release to be limited in nature, not wanting to deceive the consumer with the Limited Edition on the cover simply as a ploy to purchase a copy but not really mean it. I know when I worked there, every week, someone would call about it's availability. I'm sure that has gone on every week since I left in 1995 and probably more so due to the Internet. You never know, maybe one day it will come out again. They could probably sell as many or more than what they sold the first time around, but with so much burning going on who knows.

I'm sure if you look, you can find all the tracks on Kaaza or wherever, and make your own CD. But I think it is collectors desire to have the real, rare thing that makes it so sought after.

Absolutely, an original of any music release will always be sought after by collectors.

I have two copies of HH #1, and they are both disintegrating. They are not the best quality pressing. If you happen to have an original copy of this, you would be wise to make a copy or two...

HH #1 disintegrating already?
I found problems with HH #3 (2 copies) not playing its last 2-3 tracks on all players but later picked up /re-tried the same disc: 'made in USA' rather than 'Cda'. Problem solved, but that was an initial error.
