CFNY Classics... you gotta love 'em. Or do you? At least for me, CFNY was more than the music, it was a philosophy. I put up with the songs i didn't like just because CFNY was playing them, kinda like taking one for the team. I would grit my teeth and smile as Garfield whined interminably, knowing that nobody else was playing his "tunes". It's the closest thing to masochism that i've had the, er, pleasure to experience.

I find it interesting that a lot of the songs that I \"burned out\" on and ended up never wanting to hear again, I actually don't mind anymore coming back listening to them a few years later.

However, there are a few that I CAN NOT stand.

Thats got to be an all time worst.....

Too Shy by Kajagoogoo, Lies by The Thompson Twins, especially the 12 inch version that went on until lunchtime tomorrow in fact there were a lot of those, especially circa 1984 where even perfectly acceptable records like A New England by Kirsty Macoll ended up being an excuse to go and make a cheese sandwich or go for a 20 minute walk while it was on!

I used to LOVE The Thompson Twins, I can no longer listen to ANY of their stuff. Other things I used to love that I can't bring myself to listen to:

Art of Noise - Moments in Love (especially the 9 minute version)
Anything by PIL
Soft Cell - Tainted Love

That's all that comes to mind at the moment, but I'm sure there are more.

Interestingly enough, I find the cure for this is to NOT LISTEN to them for a year or more, and you then seem to gain an appreciation once more for them.

You're kidding, right? Did you actually LIKE listening to CFNY?

However, I do have to agree with Barenaked Ladies, Blue Rodeo and Tragically Hip. Boring Canadian acts that I couldn't stand - especially the incessant wailing of Tragically Hip.

I was just listening to Spoons "Bridges over Borders." Why can't Canada produce quality acts like that anymore?
