I've seen quite a few requests for song ID's, plus I get quite a few in email, so I thought I would put a small section here for them. Got a song you remember but don't know the name of? Particularly an 80's CFNY song (at least if you want me to ID them!)? Post the question here!

heres the list of stuff thats been driving me nuts 'cause I cant remember who its by or what its called

1 ..maniacs in cadillacs and barbells and busboys, sensible ladies bicyles and movies and necking...the album had a mostly white cover and also had a version of Teddy Bears Picnic. Early 80s

2 ... gotta girl no more than 5foot4 shes AOK shes my Tanqueray

3 ...breasts like 2 scoops of vanilla hagen daaz, eyes like limpid pools of 10w30.. sounds like Ricardo Montalban doing the Chrysler Cordoba RICH CORINTHIAN LEATHER ad. I was told it was DEAD MILKMEN, but I cant find any reference to it

4 ...Remote control... thats all I remember, I thought it was the monks

5 ...Kicking the cans... the small part that I remember sounds like flash and the pan

any help greatly appreciated

1. is "Maniacs in Cadillacs" by Drastic Measures... the album was called Drastic Measures

Their lead signer told me that you might be able find a copy at Abba-Zappa in Toronto, unless it has been sold. Call first.

thankyouthankyouthankyou.....a thousand times thankyou. At least now I have a name to go with that half remembered song (actually found a pic of the album cover on a Carole Pope page) I wont be anywhere near TO any time soon, so will have to contend with the second hand shops up here, and of course yard sales. Only 3 left to ID

Scott,

I would really appreciate any help in identifying the following song.
I recently found a tape that had been made for me a long time ago.
It was taped off David Marsden's show, probably in the Spring of '84.
Here are the lyrics:

Spend my life without your touch I cannot satisfy

All my dreams, simple as can be
Just to see us walking side by side
It won’t be easy, but even I can see
If we’re to survive, we’ll have to compromise our pride

I really need your touch
I never hurt so much
I really miss your touch
Give your affection to me

Spend my life without your touch I cannot satisfy
What can I tell by the look in your eyes
I’m wasting my time, don’t turn your back on me
Turn your back on me
What can I say? What can I do? to keep from losing you

I really need your touch
I never hurt so much
I really miss your touch
Give your affection to me

Nowan, check out this link: http://home.swipnet.se/skroff/headboys.html

It has a fairly comprehensive listing of the bands' recordings, pics of sleeves, etc.

Ok, now my turn... Pete and Geets used to play a song called ( I think) Imbecile, the lead singer sounded like Feargal Sharkey, but I cannot find this title listed on any of his or any Undertones releases.
Any help appreciated

Okay, here's a good one. Many people have tried unsuccessfully to ID it. I have said it has the beat of "Paisley Girls" by Chain of Fun, but a bit more up tempo:
I labelled it "Fear of the Cold", I could swear they called it that when they played it (1984-1987?):

A light goes out, proving existence
All that we have is now, beyond our grasp

Flames igniting, passion considering

A fear of the fire, or fear, of the cold.

In a moment now,
Our thoughts, will not change.
Come and melt the ice,
And open closen doors, again.

We close our eyes, to save us from blindness.
We close our eyes, to save us from ourselves.

OK people!

Today is my birthday and there a number of 'NY songs I'm trying to identify/locate.

"Here comes the night sister"

I think that was the name of the song-cannot for the life of me remember who did it.

"And it feels like thunder on the right"- line repeated often in a great song called "?" by ?.

I have loads more but those 2 would cheer my birthday up-even if I don't find anything out until a few days from now.

I think that Vital Sines did a song called Fear of the Cold, I'll have to check out my vinyl and let you know. The timing seems about right.

Later,
