Wow what a find! I am in no way affiliated with the guy who is selling this on E-bay, but thought that someone on the Spirit of Radio may be interested. When was the last time you saw a CD version of Platinum Blondes "Standing in the dark". I think I purchased mine around summer of 1984. What a find! From what I understand from a friend is that there are only a couple of thousand of these.

Here is the link to it.

I just might buy it to add to the collection.

sorry, I remember sitting around and listening to them on CFNY. a group of my guy friends purchased the albumn, and a 24, and spent a couple nights listening to it. when I first heard them I thought they were canada's answer to U2, and they had song really good tunes. it was only with their marketing to girls and their sappy videos that I lost interest.

I'll admit to buying a couple of their albums c.85-86. I think I have "Standing in the Dark" on vinyl somewhere in the basement. A couple of their songs were interesting.

I remember thumbing through a bookstore and scanning through a compilation book put together by the Toronto Star rock critic, forget his name, and he raised the same issue. Where they for real or were they just another bubble-gum band?

Personally, I think they had something. Too bad it was drowned out by record-company packaging.

Finally got around to checking the basement... guess I liked them better than I remember. In addition to the vinyl- 2 CDs- Standing in the Dark and Alien Shores. You say the first is rare?

Really? Looking up the page, I see two "Who cares!!!!" from you and some mildly supportive comments from me. So, which one of us is doing the "crushing"?

And, as for insightful, intelligent commentary- where exactly within "who cares!!!!" would I find some?
