Mysterious Silent Night

This is my first post here.
For about two decades I have wondered who did a certain instrumental version of silent night. It was the very last song played on David Marsden's Christmas Eve show in 1985 (not to mention the last Christmas song I ever heard on the Spirit of radio).
The song had what sounds like electric violin, some bell sounds (I think) and some weird wacky playing that is almost spooky.
Two possibilities:
1.A version by Nash the Slash who often played electric violin, but I have yet to find evidence of him doing Christmas tunes.
2.A rendition called \"Silent Fright\" that I read about some time back, by ???
Anyone know?

I caught maybe the last 20 minutes of David Marsden's Christmas Eve show tonight (on The Rock).I once again heard the exact same rendition of silent night, which was played immediately after Chris De Burgh's "A Spaceman Came Travelling".It was also the last song again, atleast the last song before Marsden did his talk around midnight.
Did anyone listen to this show from last night, and know who did this song? I checked the playlist.it list's the Chris De Burgh song at 11.56 pm, but doesn't list the song that was played immediately after.

i recorded most of last nights show & I'll post that DeBurg track later!
David never fails to amaze his audience with many never before heard variations & selections!
I would have had the entire show but due to a "java" blowout , I was missing a bit!

Thanks!
That's definetly the silent night I've been wondering about. To bad it didn't give the artist on the music clip.Unfortunately the Chris De Burgh track didn't work for me.If it works for you, it must be a glitch on my computer.

I asked David about the Silent Night song, here's what he replied:
Hi Scott - sorry for the delay getting back to you.
Originally I started played that when I was at CHUM-FM mid-seventies. Now I cannot remember where I got the song....but I think is was Rotary Connection. Many folks think its Hendrix but it is not. Also in my research trying to find the artist I came across a possibility that it might be Mick Ronson.
Sorry but that's the best I can do for you.
Hope you are well and Happy New Year.

I did a search under Rotary Connection and managed to find a blog that had their "Silent Night Chant" but that clearly isn't the track that David played on the 24th.
The search continues....

The Mystery is finally solved!
And it wouldn't have been solved without that e-mail from Marsden. Thanks for the info Scott!
I did a search for Rotary Connection's Silent Night on You Tube and discovered this video of Minnie Riperton (who was a member of that group):

The mystery tune is infact by Rotary Connection, with Minnie Riperton whistling. It comes from their 1968 Christmas album "Peace", which includes three different versions of Silent Night. The third version called "Silent Night Chant" is the one that Audiofool heard. The second version of Silent Night (the 6th track of that album) is the tune that David Marsden played.Proof of this can be found on this following link:

I just got the Rotary Connection Christmas album in the mail this week. All three versions of silent night are great! There's some tracks that are a too short and sound unfinished, but it's an overall classy album of soul, rock, and psychedelic.I managed to find a pretty cheap Cd copy for under $3 (plus shipping and handling).

I was thinking it might be "Silent Fright" by Space Negros? You can hear a bit of it here....
