Just saw this on Google News so I headed over here. Very sad, especially that he was cut loose over some "restructuring" from a job he'd held all of his working life.

Edit: CFNY... er... 102.1TheEdge... now has a page up about him.
It's already got 9 pages of comments.

Devastating news. I came here first to pay my repects. I guess I'll head over to cfny to see what's being said, but they paid Martin a nice tribute today, although he would have liked more Tool. He'll be missed :(

Marsden sent me this last night:

....This Thursday - on my radio show I will be dedicating the entire 5 hours to Martin Streek.

And I would like you to be involved. Please send me an e-mail writing your thoughts about Martin Streek.

I will be reading what I get on the air and will also be mentioning each writer's name - unless you ask me not to.

Let's make this a special night on the Internet and on the Radio. A time to share our thoughts together about Martin Streek.

If you have a note or memory, he wishes you to send him an email, so he can include it on-air. You can reach him through his web site.

Posted today on the 102.1 Facebook Fan Page:
his Sunday night from 5-8pm on the Edge, we celebrate and remember our friend Martin Streek. We will play the music that mattered to Martin, and hear from the people that matter the most … you, the Edge listener. Share your thoughts and memories of by calling us at 416-872-EDGE and we’ll do our best to include as many as possible.
When asked who would be hosting, got this reply:
No one in particular... It will be filled with listener calls and memories from announcers past and present.

Sad to hear the news.I heard about him being fired awhile back, but didn't know about his death until tonight.

Martin Streek's live to air broadcast was one of the best things The Edge had going for it (I used to pick up his show on occassion through sattalite tv).
