List of New Music Search winners / "Kiss of Death" facts

Hi all,
I'm doing a bit of research for a radio show I do at CFRC (campus/community out here in Kingston, Ontario) and wanted to do a block on the dimly remembered New Music Search that CFNY did in the early '90s. I'm trying to find the facts on it -- entrants and winners -- and validate my vague memory that the award was locally famous in Toronto as the "Kiss of Death" award: a win there was a guarantee that you'd never make it as a band.
Can anyone recall or point me to facts about the contest? Track lists of the NMS CDs and the winners' names would be especially helpful. Thanks!
