This will be tough, but: the song was played on a New Year's Eve in the early 80's (81-84) on a pre-recorded show - hence no dj's to identify the track. The song had a very hypnotic beat, and the major lyrical hook was a bunch of women shouting "Technology" in a manner reminiscent of the Bar-Kays shouting "Soul finger" on the eponymous Stax-Volt hit of the 60's. Musically, it sounded very much like Thomas Dolby, but I was never able to track it down to him. I know this is vague, but any help would be appreciated.

The Group - Technology
Actually, a group of school children sing "Technology" as well as spell it out letter by letter.
There is a video for this song on You Tube.
