I wish I had a clip of the song I am looking for. I have lost the cassette that it was taped on. It was taped off of CKCU FM in Ottawa but migh have been in the CFNY playlist. It is from the mid 80s. Female vocalist - sounds like Jane Sibberry, but I don't think it is. It was almost spoken word with a little music in the background. It started off with:
"Nola Dread, his words echoed of great wars. Poetry about the past, I think it is poetry about now. And where is Andropov, oh he's dead. And where is that Oil of Olay man, wrinkled Reagan. Leave us alone. Leave us alone redigent news, weather and sports, says the Toronto Sun. Leave us alone, I just want to go home to my morning kalistenics"
I am assuming it is Canadian with the Toronto Star reference. Excuse the spelling, but I am just amazed that I can even remember this much of it. Thanks.

You may want to check out Laurie Anderson
she did the spoken word style...although she isn't from Canada...
