This was played infrequently on Coast 1040 in Vancouver. I don't have a sample, I never did manage to tape it. I only ever heard it played after midnight so I never had a tape going.
The only thing I remember from it is a part of the chorus: "Tell me how you got the [this?] sickness, Such an age to be involved with this."
It's not Elvis Costello; I've Googled the bejeezus out of it. From what I recall, it sounded vaguely like New Fast Automatic Daffodils.

It's been 11 months, but...
Those lyrics come from Art Bergmann's song "Our Little Secret."
The song appeared on a 1988 album called Crawl With Me.

Never too late for a correct answer! You're definitely right. I can't believe I couldn't place that. I know I've seen that CD in bargain bins but never picked it up.
The song was on his 1998 album Design Flaw, this time with Chris Spedding on guitars so I couldn't resist. I just picked it up off Amazon (who has it mis-labeled as being a Teenage Head album).
Thanks Brick!
