I remember a song that got some heavy airplay in the later bits of the 1980s on CFNY. The lyrics were about families immigrating (to the UK or US one would assume) and trying to force their old ways of life on the kids. I think the main work in the chorus was "chameleon".
It was a heavy synth band, a one-hit wonder, and not unknown.
