Song from the early 80's about gang violence I think, male singer with a Cockney accent ,more of a talker really,he describes a phone booth he sees as being "riddled with 'oles".I think it might have been a Canadian band.I would love to hear this song again!

Racking my brain here.....I should know this.....wonder if it's not the Monks "Drugs In My Pocket"??

From Martina King, 4/30/2011 3:51:35 PM:

Nope, definitely not the Monks.I wish I could remember more of the lyrics but I never managed to get this song on tape. Thanks for trying to help me out Smithers :)

From Smithers Jones, 4/30/2011 11:53:20 PM:

I tried Primitve Radio Gods "Standing Outside A Broken Phone Booth with Money in my Hands" and Nik Kershaw "The Riddle" but no luck. I think I'm tapped out......

From dj Wave, 5/1/2011 7:38:30 AM:

Could it be a song from Smiley Culture or Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel? Would need more lyrics.

From Martina King, 5/1/2011 10:07:00 AM:

I wish I could remember more lyrics, maybe under hypnosis,LOL.I only remember the "riddled with 'oles" because I would try to imitate the accent. The lead singer was actually a "raconteur",something in the John Cooper Clark vein.Maybe this one is destined to remain a mystery :(

From DJ Wave, 5/1/2011 11:37:27 AM:

Maybe a ska band? Bad Manners, The Specials, The Toasters, Selector, Untouchables...that may spark something more.

From DJ Wave, 5/1/2011 11:42:33 AM:

Here is a list of some canadian ska bands

Definitely not Ska,nothing danceable, more synthesizer type,I think but can't say for sure.

From Jackie, 5/8/2011 12:16:38 AM:

The Piranhas comes to my mind when you mention that accent. In "Getting Beaten Up" its very pronounced. Might it be them?

obviously this song is danceable and not synth, but maybe it's a diff song by them?

From Martina King, 5/10/2011 5:18:46 PM:

That's not it either. Thanks for trying though,I really appreciate everyone's efforts.
