[This is a re-post of the comments below, this time with an .mp3 clip added (sorry for the poor sound quality!)]
Anybody recognize this one?
First heard in 1980 or 1981; minor key; jarring, almost mournful, atmospheric guitar sound combined with driving 4x4 beat; vocalist sounds a little like Jaz Coleman of Killing Joke. I have a fragment on an old cassette tape but would like to identify the artist and title.
The chorus goes something like this:
"I sink [pause] my teeth [pause] into Acceleration Acceleration"
(The word could also be "Exhilaration" -- can't make out enough other words to guess based on context.)
Other isolated words and phrases I can make out:
"And something struck [pause for guitar lick] a responsive chord"
[Near the end] "And the days grow longer...."
Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks!

I'd bet my life this is "Acceleration" by Urban Verbs. It's off the lp Early Damage. They were a Talking Heads soundalike, in fact Chris Frantz's brother was in Talking Heads. I'll check my lp and post again later today.

Just went down to the basement to check if I had a lyric sheet. This is the song you're after. BTW, I had the brothers mixed up; Chris Frantz was in Talking Heads and Roddy Frantz was the lead singer in Urban Verbs.
Hope this helps,
David

Here's the lyrics, for anyone interested, courtesy of <http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/dylan/576/acceler.html>
Something's lost and I fear its passing Now there's no time for reflecting Savage me with bolder passions Formalize this weird sensation And sink my teeth into acceleration Tumed my head, there was a blur of motion Then something struck that responsive chord Gear me up 'cause I'm mad for action Hungry for some confrontation And sink my teeth into acceleration Speed rules, and days go faster Velocity has taken over Hang tight, it's just beginning Controls collapsed, I sent them spinning That was the noise of our hideouts crashing Those were the voices of all women wailing Panic drove me to the wall Abandon the escape routes And sink your teeth into acceleration We accelerate We all accelerate The words accelerate We accelerate

Now I would like to hear a sample! Can anyone add it now, or is it too late?
So I assume you all now have the track Acceleration by the Urban Verbs. It's also on a wicked comp called "totally wired" also with Pylon, Delta 5, LiLiput, Mo-Dettes, etc.
I was trying to figure out who's song was the other Acceleration "Bill Nelson", when I stumbled upon your thead.
