This was some kind of parody of country music I heard on CFNY, and I'm looking for artist and album. It seems 'NY played the whole thing one day. One song was a parody of "Her name is....her eyes are" (a George Jones tune, I think). Another song had the lyrics "I got a new car, ain't that great? Let's go out and celebrate". Another song had weird boo-hoo-ing, the synth-sound of guns shooting, and a low voice singing. The main voice in all was very nasally and twangy.

I had to wrack every brain cel in my head to remember this but pretty sure that last one you mentioned is the 12 inch of Dieche by Sex Gang Children.
Can you respond here and tell me if I'm right? Cuz it's killing me to know if it is. :-)

That's not it, Jackie - but thanks for pointing me to that band, they sound good. What I'm looking for is much closer to satire - exaggerated twang all over, maybe closer to Ween than RevCo

Could it possibly be something by Severed Heads. I had a dubbed cassette from a friend simply hand labelled Severed Heads; it featured them doing some strange electronic style country. Dosey doe disco or something along that line. The line about the new car seems it would fit right in...

Thanks for the reply, Mark. It's not Severed Heads, as none of the tunes from this mysterious entity had back-beat; they aren't danceable. I need to convert the snippets on tape I recorded off CFNY into mp3. This was from around 1985.
