Hi all! I'm looking for a song I heard (again, in Mpls MN) in about Aug of 1991 only once. It had sort of a funky-type feel, with a guitar solo of sorts. I'm real fuzzy on the lyrics (I apologize), but the voice was a younger guy (almost sounded a bit like the Wonder Stuff without the edgy-ness), and the bridge went something like "I know just where I'm coming from, I know just where I've been,...." and the chorus went "I'm turning into someone else, I'm turning into my own self, I'm turning..into.... I'm on the outside looking in....(and I'm not sure of the rest). Thanks to anyone who can help me settle this! :)

Sounds a little like Suzanne Vega "left of Center"

<<When they ask me
"What are you looking at?"
I always answer
"Nothing much" (not much)
I think they know that
I'm looking at them
I think they think
I must be out of touch>>

Thanks for your comment! It's similar to that--except that it's a guy singing--it's a bit like Squeeze, Wonder Stuff, and almost a wah-wah guitar sound on the instrumental all rolled into one.

Electronic - Patience of a saint has lyrics VERY simular to this one.

From RogerE, 11/13/2003 2:41:17 AM:

Talking of my attributes, the things I do so well
As anyone who's in cahoots with me will readily tell
I've lived up here, I've been down there, I've bought so I could sell
And if I drove a faster car, I'd drive it bloody well
How can I change? I live without restraint
And I would try the patience of a saint
Thinking of my attitudes, talking one on one
I may disagree with you, but look where you've come from
And all that you've got, I thought that I would faint
But I would try the patience of a saint
And I would try the patience of a saint
I would try the patience of a saint
I'm talking to myself (to myself)
I'm talkint to the one that I know best
Bury me with gratitude, you can go to hell
Why should I care? I'd rather watch drying paint
But I would try the patience of a saint
And I would try the patience of a saint
I would try the patience of a saint
And I would try the patience...
...of a saint

I know this song and I have been trying to track it down too. The music, while rock, had a white funk element to it.

I found this article via Google because I'm trying to answer the same question. I'm 99% sure that the name of the band is "The Five Thirties", or "The 5:30's" or something to that affect, but I can't find any trace of them anywhere.

I've been trying to remember the name of this song FOR YEARS. I think the video may have been played on 120 Minutes. Maybe checking 120 Minutes playlists might help...

From Jen, Original poster, 9/20/2009 7:30:35 PM:

The song is called "13th Disciple" and it's by the band Five Thirty. Thank you to all!! It's been a looong search :)
