Hello. There was a folky, rather plaintive song that used to be played occasionally by the early DJs (like Liz Janik). The lyrics went something like, "Her name was Roseanne(?)/She came from the Sea of Japan". I'd really appreciate any help. Thank you.

Roz - The song you mentioned is "Joanne" (1970) by Mike Nesmith (yes, that Mike Nesmith).

In his "Elephant Parts" video, he parodied the song changing from "her name was Joanne and she lived in a meadow by a pond" to "Her name was Rodan and she lived in the ocean off Japan" while he was wearing the bottom half of a Godzilla costume whilst stepping on a miniature Japanese city.

It's a great song and it's included on his "Live at the Britt" DVD from a couple of years back.

hope this helps.

Wow! That's the one! Thanks so much for your quick response, audiofool; I had been wondering for YEARS and it was driving me nuts.
