Okay, here's an extreme longshot. I cannot remember the words but I am looking for an artist very similar to Thomas Dolby. I even thought at one time that it was Thomas Dolby but found out later it was not. The sound is similar to Dolby's Europa and The Pirate twins. I used to have a tape I recorded off CFNY with the song but it has gone awol.

From Ed, 5/16/2003 9:01:21 PM:

One other thing, the tape I had was made around 1984 give or take a year so it was likely released around then. Thanks in advance..........Ed

From Dave Myrvold, 5/17/2003 9:56:49 AM:

The song you're thinking about might be:

"Wonderlust" - Fallout Club

Released: October 1981

Thomas Dolby was involved with this record. It's very atmospheric with an unusual drum beat pattern.

Ed/Dave:

Same thing I was thinking, Ed if you want I can e-mail you a copy of Wonderlust to see if thats the song. Let me know here.

David

From Ed, 5/17/2003 11:10:15 PM:

Sure David that sounds great, [email protected] I am looking forward to giving it a listen. Thanks......Ed

From Walter P., 5/18/2003 11:02:14 PM:

I also remember when Wonderlust by Fallout Club was played on CFNY. I have been looking for this song on any CD. Does anyone know if this song has ever been included on a CD (i.e. compilation)

From Walter, 5/19/2003 1:38:40 AM:

I don't think it ever made it to CD, come to think of it , it barely made it to vinyl. It's a tough record to find, and if you do you will pay large for it.

Sorry Walter, typed your name in by mistake

From PAUL, 9/17/2003 5:33:59 PM:

PREVIOUS TO YOUR COMMENTS IN MAY - JUST ADVISING THAT THE SONG 'WONDERLUST'BY THE FALLOUT CLUB HAS NEVER BEEN RELEASED ON ANY CD THAT IM AWARE OF - THE TRACK WAS RELEASED ON 7" & 12" IN THE UK & WAS A VERY MINOR HIT ON THE INDE. CHARTS - THE GROUP ALSO RELEASED 2 OTHER SINGLES DREAM SOLDIERS/PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY (THE B-SIDE PROBABLY THE EARLIEST TRACK WRITTEN BY THOMAS DOLBY TO BE RELEASED ON VINYL BEFORE HE WENT SOLO)& THEIR FIRST SINGLE 'FALLING YEARS/BEAT BOYS - THIS FIRST SINGLE HOWEVER DID NOT INVOLVE THOMAS DOLBY.

FOR INFO. THE MAIN ARTIST IN THE GROUP WAS A GUY CALLED TREVOR HERION WHO LATER RELEASED A SOLO LP IN THE UK ALONG WITH APPROX 4 SINGLES FROM THE LP - SADLY I BELIEVE HE DIED IN THE MID 80'S.

I HOPE THIS IS OF INTEREST YOU - .

From Ed, 9/17/2003 8:35:17 PM:

Thanks Paul, that is very interesting. I will look up that info and see what I can find. I love that kind of background info (ongoing history of new music was a fav):)

From MickeyC, 6/21/2006 2:09:41 PM:

I knew Trevor in the early '80s when I lived in London. He was an Irishman and he was friends with Martin & Steve Young (of the, then, Colourbox)and Ray Conroy (Colourbox manager, and good friend of mine). I didn't know that he had died, he was a very talented singer. I still play Beat Boys when I DJ here in Newcastle, and I shall continue to do so in his memory.
He will be missed.

From PeteB, 10/6/2006 9:06:35 AM:

Sad indeed. I bought this single from an indie record shop in Worcester when it was released way back. I have it on mp3/wmv if the site wants it.

From Patrick Mc Gahern, 10/30/2006 9:48:55 PM:

Hi,
I'm looking to talk to anyone who knew or can put me in touch with people who knew Trevor Herion as I'm gathering content for my site www.trevorherion.com. I have lots of old unreleased recordings of Trevor from his days with The Civilians and The Fallout Club as well as his solo stuff.
Many thanks and all the best,
Patrick ([email protected])

From WErnEr, 7/5/2007 1:19:19 PM:

There's now a cd release ... actually even on eBay
(item # 150138245018 ), the name of the cd is "THOMAS DOLBY - The Fallout Club & Low Noise"

Best from Germany,
WErnEr

From mbyaudible, 7/10/2007 6:04:18 PM:

Trevor Herion was a good vocalist and it is sad that he died so young. His first band the Fallout Club did indeed include Thomas Dolby on synths and keyboards and Matthew Seligman, with whom Dolby had worked with together a couple of years earlier in Bruce Wooley and the Camera Club.
Be warned - that so-called Fallout Club CD available occasionally on eBay is not an official release, it is homemade (the artwork while not great does have a pro look) and although I have not heard it to judge its quality, buyer beware.
I have some Fallout Club vinyl and have already digitized three songs for my personal CD collection. I used to have another Trevor Herion 12" from the mid-80s but have since let that one get away.
cheers, mbyaudible

From Jade Fitzsimons (Herion), 9/6/2007 9:18:28 AM:

Hello all.
Im Jade, Trevor Herion's niece. It's a pleasure to see messages from people who either knew Trevor, or was a fan of his music. Sadly Trevor passed away in 1988 and is greatly missed by his family and friends.
I am happy to help with any information you may need.
Trevor was an amazing person and is truly missed.

From Aine, 11/8/2007 4:36:48 PM:

Was trawling the web yet again trying to find Fallout Club recordings, and only now heard of Trevor's untimely passing (moved to Ireland in early 80's). To Trevor's family, I am so sorry for your loss. His voice is one of the most awe-inspiringly beautiful that I have ever heard. I will always remember him.

From Patrick, 1/26/2008 5:51:39 PM:

Hi Brian & Jade,
If you could get in touch with me either on patrick (at) trevorherion.com or pmcgahern (at) yahoo.com I'd be more than grateful!
Best wishes,
Patrick

From Paul, 2/3/2008 3:23:07 PM:

I've just been converting some of my vinyl collection to mp3, including "Dreamtime", "Fallen Angel" and "Wonderlust/Desert Song". Saddened to hear of Trevor's death, would love to hear more of his recordings if anyone can point me to links.

From TedSoliday, 6/15/2008 9:09:08 PM:

I recently discovered him typing Dolby's name on youtube and eventually saw the cover of Wonderlust appear on screen, after being intrigued just looking at the cover I wasn't prepared for how great the work was. I think Trevor Herion and his work were way way ahead of their time and I am hooked and I'm looking for "Love Chains" and "Dreamtime" without hurting my bank account. Trevor right now is my biggest inspiration in my direction as a musician. thank you everybody for your comments..it helps me understand the mystery behind this person and his beautiful art. thanks Ted

From Mark, 9/10/2008 11:44:25 AM:

From Ivan, 11/17/2008 1:14:18 PM:

I managed to buy those two Happy Birthday 7" records by Fallout Club last year for a suitable price and in mint condition. And of course, I was truly impressed by the contents - frankly, cannot tell which song I like best for this tiny lonesome collection is truly magnificent. Previously being introduced to the work of Mr. Dolby, without the internet I'd probably never find out about this band nor Mr. Herion himself, whose only solo record 'Beauty Life' should be properly remastered in digital form for a new generation of fans who like introspective electro-pop music... Trevor was Jacques Brel of synth pop as far as I am concerned... Pure modern soul.

From Marloway, 11/17/2009 11:17:37 AM:

I only like the little dark and strange synth style & -athmosphere of "Wonderlust". The voice of Herion in this was very powerful. I like only this song 'cause I'm more invented in Dolby's early productions. There's a bundle of rare underrated songs, who should have been a megahit & -seller, but failed for any unknown reason (most: bad PR?) the charts. One of these similar songs I lately discovered is "All good men" by "President President", a production of another British synth hero: Tony Mansfield.

From Timothy Schoonover, 1/27/2011 2:32:31 PM:

I also came to love tracks by Trevor Herion through my interest in Thomas Dolby. I have Civilians, Low Noise, Fallout Club singles. Though I haven't heard the B-side to "Made For Television", I do have the "In America" single. I would really like to hear more of his music, especially some of the earliest! If anyone one has any unreleased tracks around the Civilians (and "I See My Friends") and "The Fallout Club" time- please share :) May the spirit of Trevor live on in our hearts, ears, and voices. Thank You- Herion Family and friends, for helping fans keep the memory of Trevor alive. [email protected]
