OK BIG points for anyone that can figure out THIS song.
1982 or '83ish? All I know is the song begins with a light teakettle whistle. I can barely remember the song in my head. I haven't heard it since the mid-80's. I've been trying to find this song for years. I saw your site on the About.com's 80's newsletter.
I thought it was Paul McCartney's or PM and Wings or something...but I checked their stuff and nothing struck home. Maybe it is theirs, but I can't find which one, if it is.

is it "Cook of the House" from Wings at the Speed of Sound ? It's from 1976, but it's the only one that comes to mind. "No matter where I serve my guests, they always like my kitchen best, 'cos I'm the cook of the house...." as sung by Linda

Well, no, that wasn't it. I found a place to listen to that one and it's so beboppy or something.
This one was a really mellow, soft song, started with a teakettle at the beginning. It might not be Wings or Paul Mccartney at all. I don't know why I thought it was though.
Hmmmm....

Lisa - one more possibility is "Toast" by Streetband. It has a kettle whistle in it but it's at the end of the song. Check out the "SOUNDS" page here at: http://www.spiritofradio.ca/Songs.asp for the mp3 of it.

Hey audiofool that was a really cool tune. I liked it! Very funny. :-D
However, that wasn't it. That was a guy talking about his toast all song long. Then scratch scratch spreading stuff on his toast. I don't think I could have forgotten such a song! :-D
Ohhhhh...still searching.

Sounds like it could be 'Listen To The Radio' by Pukka Orchestra, that came out around that time, and he sings " put another coffee on, and listen to the radio..."

OK I will check that out...I'll post back if it is.
