okay...two classic cfny songs...really I must know!:

-- the first one was about the condom in the walla-walla-walla-walla wallet...something about circular impressions!?!
-- more importantly the second was the "toast song". It had an awesome little bass line in behind and some guy just grooving on about toast. In the bridge, somebody scrapes some toast into the mic. It started off with something like, "I wake up in the morning..." The chorus was, "Toast, toast, toast"
...yeah, well...i know that's not much to go on, but I hope you can help me here...before i really do die.

dug-out!

From dug, 6/15/2003 5:04:58 PM:

Thanks Audio-guy!

From Fido_the_dog, 11/30/2004 8:16:59 PM:

My cousin got a cd for his birthday a few years or so ago with Toast on it. I'm guessing it was Heywood Banks.

From Laura, 12/5/2004 5:35:39 PM:

Yeah Toast.

This song originally came out in the early 80's. Yes, I'm that old. Heywood Banks would come on the Bob and Tom show (originally out of Indy, now sindicated). The original version did not mention French Toast. Always loved it and thought I would try to find a mp3 of it. If you want to check out another way-too-funny comedy song, check out Shirtless Girl from Bob and Tom.

From hskrjon, 1/11/2005 5:38:40 PM:

Anyone have lyrics for Heywood Banks "The One I Love"?

From Antny DeanDeanAndTheSexMachines, 1/20/2005 11:31:28 AM:

This is the best I can do from the recording:

I've got a rubber in my wallet
One of those little whatcha-ma-callits
I'm saving it for that special day
When the right girl comes my way

It leaves a circular impression
From all those years of compression
I've had it since I turned thirteen
I got it in a vending machine

(chorus)
Circ, circ, circular impression
leading to a state of depression
In my walla, walla, walla, walla, wallet
I can't wait to install it
No I can't wait

It's in a tin foil packet
Sometimes I'm tempted to unwrap it
It's got a reinforced border
I hope it's still in working order

Be prepared they said in boy scouts
I'm waiting for a chance to try out
I want to try this contraceptive
But all the girls are unreceptive

I've got a french safe in my pocket
It'll be the nose cone on my rocket
It comes direct from Paris, France
Can't wait to take it from my pants

From mary, 11/4/2007 3:39:45 PM:

does anyone know what the french part means in 'yeah toast'?

From Rambo, 1/29/2008 12:03:10 AM:

Despite the quantity of responses about Heywood Banks, the original post in June/03 regarding the Toast song - was NOT Heywood's song, but one by a British Paul Young in 1978.
I have it on audiotape (somewhere!!), and am still trying to find an MP3 of it.
Lyrics are here: http://www.allthelyrics.com/lyrics/paul_young/toast-lyrics-224965.html

From Borissss, 6/2/2008 8:30:36 PM:

Absolutely; I remember hearing the British toast song on Q107 in the early 80's. Scruff Conners played it at least once a week, and they only had a cassette of it. But it always made me laugh. The other one is funny, but this one is brilliant!

From Joe, 10/23/2008 1:27:02 PM:

THE WRONG TOAST SONG.

There is some confusion here. The song he is refering to in the first post is the one played in the 1980s on CFNY.

(Basic lyrics may be the same, though?)

The one you want is more "Quiet" and done by a single, soft-speaking man with a British accent.

Thanks to the respondant who identified it as by the "Streetband"..I'll check it out.

It also has background sound effects of him preparing breakfast and includes him jangling cuttlery, scraping /buttering the toast, squeeking floors and a kettle whistle too , I think.

It was popular on the alternative punk stations like CFNY in Brampton, Ontario in 1980's

From pilsbery, 11/6/2009 9:21:30 AM:

I didnt read all of the postings, Im sure it had been mentioned, the Toast song played in the 80s on CFNY was done by a group calling themselves the Streetband. Its a great song, I sing it to my kids in the morning they think Im weird and they are right! Another song I have been looking for has the lyrics that go something like Larry the Lobster from PEI...any takers?

Joe

From Scott, 11/6/2009 9:30:25 AM:

Lester the Lobster was by "Stevedore Steve".
