Identified: Yes!

This song, which I have called "Firewood", reminds me of Steve Earle and Van Morrison, but I don't think it is by either of those chaps.

I'm very happy to have found this web site, and it's great group of knowledgable posters. My old CFNY tapes mean an awful lot to me, and to have a place to identify the artists is just wonderful.

Thanks!
Dennis

I believe that is "Just Like Fire Would", by the Saints, from their "All Fools Day" LP.

You are correct, sir!
Armed with your info, I found a site with the lyrics.

What a great song! If you ever get to southern Arizona (near the other border), I'll buy you a beer.

don't know what that is but it is not simple minds' the american..that's for sure!

From Lex, 8/27/2003 11:43:54 PM:

It certainly is The Saints - lead singer Chris Bailey is a bit of an Australian music icon. they had a couple of popular songs in the 70s/80s including this one (Just like Fire Would - a classic track) and Stranded.
Chris sang on Nick Cave's new album Nocturama on the hit "Bring it on" - a damn good song and album. he also appeared on the soundtrack to "Young Einstein" (if anybody can remeber that film with a guy named Yahoo Serious) with the song "the Music goes round my head" - an easybeats cover.
Cheers,
Lex from Melbourne, Oz
