I have been searching and all I came up with is Baha Men- "Best Years of our Lives" from the Shrek soundtrack. Obviously these are the right lyrics, but I can't find who originally did the song. Any ideas?

rick, i discovered the modern romance song too, its the same song, but not the same version. sounds similar, but there are vocal differences, did anyone else do a cover?

If you live in Canada, the version you likely heard was "Mens Room". Because of Cancon requirements, Canadian stations would likely choose this version over the others. If you live outside Canada, you probably have no idea who the group 'Mens Room' is.

Mens Room! That's it... not the Belle Stars! They were an all-girl band, right? They covered songs by Belle Stars and other English bands.

hey mike, right on again, as soon as i read the name i knew it was right. they also did a version of 'sign of the times' i think, by the belle stars. must be hard to find their stuff.

I live in Canada, but I never heard Men's Room until years after they were gone. When I did hear their stuff, I didn't like it. That would be why I never thought of that band. Modern Romance was so much better.

Rick, I can't agree with you more, the version from Modern Romance is so much more superior then Mens Room. I remember hearing it quite a bit on stations like CHUM.

It is Men's Room. I have the 45. Sign of The Times is on one side and Best Years of Our Lives (recorded live, I think) is on the other.
