ok this is kinda vague but any help would be GREATLY appreciated...ok i hav a project to match a song to an emily dickinson poem and the only hint our teacher gave us was that the song came out in the 80's was sung my a male but not a solo artist a group and he also said "think one word...boat" and thats all he said hopefully you guys can help.

The Dead's song of that title was recorded in 1974, so that leaves them out. But there's also:

Emily Dickinson used a particular pentameter and rythym to many of her poems that is the same as that found in the tunes to "The Yellow Rose of Texas" and The "Gilligans Island" theme song. A short example, sing this to gilligans island and you'll see what I mean: BECAUSE I could not stop for Death, He kindly stopped for me; The carriage held but just ourselves And Immortality.

Perhaps not exactly what he was suggesting but at least it, er fits.....(you could even sing it to the Gilligan's Island theme, I suppose)
