Ok, here's another test for you geniuses out there who seem to have a handle on all these unknown artists and songs. Here's mine. In the 80's CFNY (Live Earl) Main line in song, "I listen to the radio" several times in song. Chorus goes like this: I listen to the radio, stereo, radio o-o-o-radio.
You ain't got no money in your pocket , it really doesn't matter to me, cause I say I know what I like so you can all go ride a bike....I listen to the radio.... desperate!

Jerry - Here's the lyrics for Radio by The Members
check it out, the lyrics are the same
Ha, ho I found myself these days in total sensuality Her radio and stereo, yes, all the same to me One thing is clear, say we all know what we hear The airwaves don't lie
I listen to the radio, its better than a stereo We listen to the radio, radio stereo
Telephone is ringing, but, I can hardly hear Though the man on the end of the line is speaking loud and clear Somehow my mind is where, where exactly I dont know Too busy tuning in the dial, portable Radio I know Im alive, so you can all go ride a bike The airwaves don't lie
I listen to the radio, its better than the stereo We listen to the radio, radio stereo Oh-oh-oh-oh radio, Oh-oh-oh-oh radio Oh-oh-oh-oh radio
Ha, ho
I know my friends ?..? what's she doin' Theres too much going on in here To determine ?....................? happening to me You could by lyin on a beach in Brighton While you're dr
From audiofool, 6/18/2004 5:23:06 PM:
sorry, part 2 of the lyrics:
You could by lyin on a beach in Brighton While you're dreaming of Saint Tropez You aint got no money in your pocket, well it dont really matter anyway Cause I said, I know what I like so you can all go ride a bike
I listen to the radio, its better than the stereo We listen to the radio, tally-ho off we go Listen to the radio, dancing to the radio Listen to the radio, turn it off, let me go Listen to the radio, dancing to the radio Listen to the radio, turn it off, let me go Listen to the radio
hope this helps
From Muffti, 6/22/2004 10:31:26 PM:
Ah, yes, but the Pukka Orchestra DID do a tune called Listen to the Radio... It's just not the tune you have in mind. It went.. Listen to the Radio... la la la laa... Listen to the Radio... la la la lllllaaaaaa...
Something like that.
From audiofool, 6/23/2004 4:23:24 PM:
And the Pukka Orch. tune is actually a cover of a Tom Robinson song called "Atmospherics: Listen to the Radio" from his Hope and Glory album from 1984, the same album upon which he covered Steely Dan's "Rikki Don't Lose That Number".
From Jerry, 6/24/2004 10:58:17 PM:
Thanx to all especially audiofool, but there's someone else that does this song. Not Tom Robinson (too slow), not Pukka Orchestra (TOO SLOW), not The Members (the closest to what version I have but too many verses - Right tempo. I wish I could give you a sample-I've only got it on cassette. Keep trying!
From audiofool, 6/25/2004 6:27:24 AM:
Dang, figgered I had it nailed since your supplied lines of "You ain't got no money in your pocket , it really doesn't matter to me, cause I say I know what I like so you can all go ride a bike....I listen to the radio" is a direct match for the first verse in part 2 above. (I think the lyrics might be from the remix version, there was also a shorter 'single' version.
Live Earl also used to play "Radio" by Randall Cousins and Frequency (from Hamilton, I believe), but it had the chorus "You turn it onnnnnn, I'm in your Radio-o-o-o-o-" repeat repeat, etc.
From Jerry, 6/25/2004 9:47:55 PM:
Audiofool, the chorus I originally wrote down is the only verse other than the main chorus...I listen to the radio. I'm guessing that it sounds like a cross between the group Blancmange and Reflex, or Dead or Alive. A real jumpy tempo. I hope this helps!
From audiofool, 6/26/2004 7:15:07 AM:
Jerry - I think what you have is the remix (or dub) version. I pulled out my 12-inch of this (I haven't heard it for a long time), and you're right, it only has the lyrics from the chorus in it.
About half way thru, there's a synth break that sounds similar to a clicker on a Crown and Anchor wheel that rises in pitch, then there's a horn segment that sounds like Pigbag (or Rip Rig Panic or Nine Below Zero). Anyway, I've got an mp3 of it and when I figure out how to edit it down to fit here, I'll post a clip.
From nina, 7/2/2004 8:29:43 PM:
was it sung by a female, and was the chorus quite high?
From Jerry, 7/2/2004 11:56:46 PM:
audiofool, perhaps if you stuff it as a ogg you might be able to send it to my email address, it is the dub version 12" from the Members and I'd really like to get your mp3 version. Try sending it to [email protected]
