k...gonna be impressed with person(s) knowing this one...British band (I think)from very early '80s ('81?)...I'm thinking fairly obscure...generous amount of airplay for this song on CFNY...Approximately 7 minutes in length (long for songs of this type!)...goes through a couple of major tempo changes, from melodic/acoustic beginning to upbeat/high tempo/chorus...melodic accoustic guitar beginning starts with lyrics something like "Johnny living in the Big Apple"...up-tempo lyrics include "We are innocent, we are not to blame; oh-oh-oh...while things are different, they remain the sa-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-me"...another refrain refers to "pakis, japs, jews"; not in a derogatory sense, mind you...thx in advance for any help...cheers.

The group was "Fashion Music", later known as just Fashion, lead singer was a guy about 7 or 8 feet tall, the song is "Hanoi Annoys Me". They also had another song played regularly on CFNY from the same album, called "Citinite". Fairly obscure, yes, unless you were a CFNY Listener then :o)

I believe he's talking about John Lennon at the start of the song, then talks about other musicians: "Big John's living in the Big Apple, raising cows (cows cows cows)... Keith's at the clinic, gotta keep clean, oh so clean (gotta keep clean, oh so clean)... Sidney couldn't cope, always had too much rope."
