The song "Why Me" is indeed the title of a track by the band Planet-P. The album was called "Project" I own the CD. If you are who I think you are, I probably give you $4 bucks when I see you. I also think you have a plasma globe like the one I had with me at the clubs I worked in. Mail me!

Scott said previously....
"Hmm. That one is not sounding familiar. However, the Vis a Vis song George mentioned above I think may be called "Shadowland". "
Nope, I have heard shadowplay and that ain't it... By carbon dating my old cassettes
I think it was played c.1985-86
Here is the chorus:
I am the night colour me black
You are the spark of a thousand eyes
I'll give you hope you give me your tears
And heart and soul heart and soul
Come and follow me -
"Darkroom had a few tracks out, but their most popular one was "Test of Time." "
I was lucky enough to purchase the cassette of
that back when it came out. Try finding anything
of theirs now!

Awesome site!
First heard CFNY in 1977, and became a loyal listener in 1980. Long live the spirit of radio!
Maybe someone can help. I am looking for a black cigarette package cover with the spirt of radio in white letters, fits a large king size pack. Also, has anyone heard of a song possibly called "doug's lament", with the words "intergalactic prophylactic"?
Keep up the good work.

CFNY was a great station up until their recent format changes. I was an avid listener (6-8hrs/day) until leaving the area. Upon returning about 3 years ago, I immediately tuned in and found myself listening to cliche CHR or nearly close to it. What happened to the no repeat work day and all the indie music that we all grew to associate with CFNY. I just think it's a shame!
Welcome!
Thanks for the nice words. I put a lot of work into this site.
I added some more to it tonight. First, I got an email from Ivar Hamilton, and I've added it to the Personalities page.
Second, Wes Maidment sent me a tape of all kinds of good, old CFNY stuff that I have digitized and put online for your listening pleasure.
Both can be found from the home page under the "New" caption. Enjoy!

Oh man..
I'm VERY impressed by this site.
When I was back in early high school, looking for my "own" way of expressing myself and my individuality.. I ran across CFNY thanks to our Audio Visual Tech at my school.. I've been a big fan ever since (that was in '81).
I've been collecting a large selection of 80's MP3's and the links to Streetband and such have fulfilled a definite need.
Thanks to you Scott.. an EXCELLENT site and a pleasure to peruse !!

Great site!! talk about a walk down memory lane!
Thanks for posting the mp3's...I have an old Sluts & Dolts poster..I mean Nuts & Bolts poster, hanging by my computer and made me all nostalgic to listen to the old N&B ad.
I used to work in a bar that some of the CFNY staff used to go to so I have some old 'NY stuff, I'll scan it all in & forward.
Thanks for putting this all together!

Hello Oceanrain.
Something that you forgot to mention is that your second cousin who lived in Cobourg (out of range of CFNY in 1982) had his Dad wire TV cable into his bedroom because you had introduced a young lad to a whole new world of music. Thanks to you Oceanrain and CFNY my musical life is magical.
