Reunion: vip and non-vip tickets what's the difference?

i purchased my tickect for the reunion last month from Ticketmaster. the sales person did not offer a choice of either VIP or NON-VIP tickets and i didn't ask one way or the other. the total cost was $69.50 ($70.00). the ticket does not indicate VIP, but it does say GEN, which i assume is General Admission since there is no reserved seating for the event.

my question is this: i've noticed a few people on the discussion board saying they purchased VIP tickets that cost them approx., $70.00 (the same amount i paid for my ticket). secondly, the Reunion page on this site is stating that NON-VIP tickets holders will not be admitted until 9:00p.m. my ticket time is for 8:00 p.m.

if anyone (event organizers or others) can clarify this situation with tickets, please do so ASAP.

same here! i guess the VIP tickets let people in earlier to get thier loot and to eat some finger food. although there was talk of a dinner before which got cancelled.

but it would be nice to know the difference. there has been poor coverage with respect to advertsising timing etc.

VIP tickets were sold early on through this site and on Marsden's radio show. VIP tickets were also given to former station employees. Doors open for VIP ticket holders at 8:15 pm, and at 9:00 pm for general admission ticket holders.

Back when this was going to be more of an "awards show" type deal for invitees only, it was going to be held in a hall with dinner, etc. Once it grew and the decision to include the public was made, the dinner idea was dropped.

it seems that the deal has been changing as time goes on. now i see that everyone who goes will get a cdrom. so what do us VIP ticket holders get for the extra $55 we paid? finger foods and a couple CDs????

i am starting to get angry about this. so, maybe i am missing something. tell me.

My understanding is/was this.

VIP tix were available as an early sale and to those who requested them etc.

I thought that the VIP ticket granted admission to the venue WITHOUT having to purchase anything from ticketmaster?

Is this the case or do VIP tix holders need to purchase an additional ticket?

VIP ticket holders do NOT purchase anything from Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster is selling NON-VIP tickets ONLY.

However, due to the fact that Ticketmaster printed the incorrect time on the tickets, this is what is being done:

- If you have purchased the early VIP ticket the doors will open at 8:00 PM, you should enter via the entrance to The Drink, on Queen's Quay. At that time you will have 60 minutes to mingle with the CFNY staff from the time period of 1977 – 1989.

- If you have purchased your ticket from TicketMaster the main Guvernment doors will open at 8:00 PM.

- After 9:00 PM, ONLY the main Guvernment doors will be open.

- There will be some finger foods in the VIP area and during the first hour waiters will circulate with trays of chocolates, peanuts and other munchies.

Wait a minute. When I bought my ticket from ticketmaster it said it was a VIP ticket. That there would be a dinner and that I would get 2 CD's and a CDROM. My friend also read on the Guvernment web site that there was a $15 at-the-door-ticket after some time, like 9 or 10pm.

Now, this would VIP ticket thing you are saying is not happening, there is no dinner and when I go to the Guvernment site I see no sign of this $15 entrance.

This is starting to sound like a money grab to me.

What is going on here? Are the Reunion promoters changing the terms of the event as time goes on?

What do I get for my $70?

There were NEVER any VIP tickets sold through Ticketmaster.

There is no $15 at-the-door-ticket.

There has not been mention of dinner for several months. There has never been any mention of a dinner on the Ticketmaster site.

Please stick to facts if you are going to complain.

Well, it looks to me that the previous complainer has his facts correct. I am very upset as well at having been misled.

spiritofradio.ca referred to "a sumptuous dinner" and "VIP ticket" quite recently -- I only heard of the site less than a month ago so your claim that the site hasn't mentioned dinner for several months cannot be correct. Since the VIP ticket was the only kind mentioned, and since the site had a link right to Ticketmaster's page for this event, there was no reason for me to think that I'd be getting anything other than a VIP ticket. Especially when I saw on The Guvernment site that you could get in at the door for $15 till 11pm and $20 after. That text was eventually removed, but not till after bought my ticket thinking that for my $65.50 I was going to get some kind of food and mingling with the former staff -- why else would I be paying so much more?

I realize that errors on The Guvernment site are not the fault of the reunion organizers, but as I mentioned above spiritofradio.ca also had information that was completely wrong.

As much as I appreciate that this is largely a volunteer effort, any event charging $65.50 is in big-league territory and purchasers need accurate information.

I was thinking of showing up at the VIP entrance and trying to get in with my regular ticket, but I doubt that will work so I'm not going to try. This situation has left me with a really bad taste in my mouth for what should be a really happy occasion.
