I just found this board, and I'm greatful. We're in the middle of a Canadian rock revolution (Metric, Broken social Scene, New Pornographers, Tangiers, Weakerthans), yet Alan Cross insists on filling the station's Canadian content with Our Lady Peace, Finger 11, Three Days Grace, Nickelback, and irrelevant old I Mother Earth. The Edge has no edge whatsoever. Alan has more say then you think, he just has either no balls, or no taste.

If anyone is interested in a new station that plays a lot of tune from the '80's, you can give a listen to Dave FM 107.5 in Cambridge, 88.7 on cable, or davefm.com. They play "80's, 90's, Anything We Feel Like" and although it includes stuff from mainstream radio and new stuff, they play a lot of stuff that was only heard on CFNY in the '80's. Kneale Mann is the PD and they have other former NY personalities. I have been listening to CFNY since the beginning but when this station started I was alternating between Dave and the Edge, and I now listen to Dave 90% of the time.

Dave FM is nothing more than corporate rock. It's the same as Jack Fm in Toronto. It's owned by Corus (the same owners as CFNY). It it horrible!!!

Please note that JACK FM is owned by Rogers and not Corus

True DAVEFM does stink, and the CFNY djs that they do have are crap and know nothing about music or the area that they broadcast in; which means they are useless. They don't have any of the good ex-cfny djs.

When Dave Farough was the Program Director at 'the Edge', it sounded a lot better. Alan seems to just comply and repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat.......etc.....etc....etc.....

The 'Edge' just had a weekend where they played some retro tunes and really advertised it a lot....well...what a joke! It was a handfull of obvious songs that they kept repeating the same crap all day. Alan...you are a complete sell-out.

I think Alan is trying, but is probably handcuffed by 'the man'. Too bad....radio really stinks in Toronto.

If you want to hearsome interesting stuff, install Winamp, run it and type "alt-L"
This will bring up the "Winamp Library"
Down the side you will see "internet radio"
click on this and you will be presented with a multitude of Shoutcast stations. I am currently listening to -=-MPEGRadio.com-=-80's selections and found it to be excellent.
BTW No matter had bad The Edge gets I still look forward to the Ongoing History. Alan Cross is riveting to listen to. Cannot understand his disdain for Prog Rock considering he is a music lover.
