I think that "I want your soul" tune was made from the same artists that made "19" *yeah I know like that helps a lot* lol, but I could be wrong since I was just a kid in those days. I remember liking that one though. Hmmm wait, another possibilitiy, could it be Mars?? Those pump up the volume guys? Hmm could be, yeah whatever...lol Anyway, this has been bugging me for the last few days. Does anyone remember the tune "thats the way it has to be because thats the way I like it", I think it was from something like 87 to 88 or something, I just remember it being played on cfny every now and then. Any help would be so appreciated! Thanks!!

Just a note to Phil R. "Mandate my ass", were the first three words of that great song you're thinking of by an artist by the name of Gil Scott-Heron. Can't think of the official title of the song right now but it will come to me and I'll post it here. It was a great song and I loved playing it on CFNY.

Hi guys, nice to know you're all still chatting it up in here. Ain't this a great place?! Three cheers for site administrator Scott MacLean.
Antarctica, I admit to feeling a little silly suggesting K.C., but you gotta admit it was the one station where you could have heard GS-H and K.C. back-to-back.

Great to hear back from you guys. Thanks James for the information. Gil Scott-Heron is it! Great track! I did some research and had no idea Gil Scott-Heron was such an influential and respected artist going all the way back to the 60's. Only CFNY could program such diverse musical influences and make it work. I've long stopped listening to the radio, because the music out now is so abysmal and the formats suck. Do I sound old! Who cares, I was spoiled by the best!

So...no idea on the "I want your soul.." artist. I've got a couple of other tracks that have been in the back of my head. Maybe you can help with these as well. The first one is VERY obscure but I have a title. It's "The Plumber" by ????... Odd little dance track with the sound of dripping water every couple of beats...and it's NOT Weird Al.
The other was a fun version of "Teddy Bears Picnic" CFNY played quite often. I've found so many covers of this, but not the one CFNY played.
That was such a fun time for me...late teens and Toronto was just shaking off it's "hogtown" image. Great friends, exciting nights downtown and the music...OH THE MUSIC!!!

The first one is "The Plumber" by Workforce. I only ever saw it once in a used store. I believe it was on Matra Records out of Montreal. I don't know if they were Canadian or not. It will probably be difficult to track down. The second one is by Drastic Measures who were Canadian. It ended up on CD a decade ago on Big Linda Records 158 Crawford Street, Toronto M6J 2V4 in case it still isn't available in stores and this address is still relevant. The CD was called Tony Malone Drastic Measures 1979-1992.

Scott posted Teddy Bears Picnic on his Nerosoft site in APRIL so you might be able to find it on Kazaa, WinMx or one of the other P2P file sharing programs by now.
I have renamed my copy
CFNY - Drastic Measures - Teddy Bear's Picnic
to make it easier for you to find on WinMx if I am online. Still looking for Maniacs in Cadillacs and the Plumber
