The Spirit of Satellite?
The Spirit of Satellite?
Hey guys, haven't checked in here for a while, I'm very happy to see that the site's still up and running! Lately I've been getting my music fix on Sirius 22 "1st Wave". It's not CFNY, but at least somewhere in the same vein. Wouldn't it be great if someone tried to take the whole little yellow house thing to satellite?
Re: The Spirit of Satellite?
Speaking of satellite, I wonder how many actually listened to CFNY when they were ON satellite -- well, C-Band Satellite. They shared the same transponder as CILQ. It practically saved my radio-listening life when I moved to Tennessee in '85.
The CFNY sound in orbit would be nice. Sadly, the current alt classics station on Sirius might not ever come close to CFNY. It might retreat to a smaller, more popular, or unchanged playlist as satellite radio fights other media for revenue.

Re: The Spirit of Satellite?
Yeah, it's only a rough aproximation but it's better than anything else available while driving. What it's lacking is that sense of community but I suppose that's hard to achieve when your broadcast area is all of North America. Still, as more people gain access and the service becomes more viable financially- there has to be a niche...
