Can't listen to airchecks with time in the title - no rush

Post by mrpete »

Hey Scott ... I'm sure you're super busy ... so there's no rush necessary in investigating this glitch.

Like I said in my other post, you've got a great website here. There's tons of content with great depth in that content.

So ... here's the glitch.

When I try to listen to airchecks that have a time in the title of the aircheck (EG "James Scott, 3:06 pm" from 1986-09-07) my web browsers (Firefox 3/IE6) redirect me back to the Sounds.asp page with everything back at the default settings.

This works fine -
1 - surf to http://www.spiritofradio.ca
2 - click on Sounds
3 - click on Air Checks
4 - click on "News, Liz, John Lennon shot dead tonight"
With both Firefox 3 and IE6 an open/save dialog box appears and works just fine. All is well here.

Here's the glitch -
1 - surf to http://www.spiritofradio.ca
2 - click on Sounds
3 - click on Air Checks
4 - in the Search For box enter the single character :
5 - click the Search button
Notice that on the results page that is returned that none of the airchecks has been listened to more than 10 times (except "Dani Ellwell Final Show" - that URL has no : character in it). It seems to me that airchecks with lengths greater than 10 mins normally have been listened to dozens of times.
6 - click or right click on any link except "Dani Ellwell Final Show"
With both Firefox 3 and IE6 I am redirected to http://www.spiritofradio.ca/Sounds.asp with Podcasts as the selected category.

There also appear to be problems with URLs that have the chars ' or + in them. Repeat the above sequence only substitute ' or + for : .

Characters that are on the next line all appear to work fine in your URLs ...

& , . - ( ) %

Clearly, somebody IS able to access those URLs that have : ' or + in them because almost all of them have download counts that are non-zero.

I swear I'm not trying to harsh on your buzz. You've got a great website and I thank you very much for all you've done. :)

Best,
Pete

Hi Pete,

Thanks for the heads-up. I spent a little bit of time this morning tracking that bug down, and I've fixed it now. Let me know if you find anything else like that.

Thanks!
