WKRP in Brampton??

I remember in the early 80's hearing a rumour that the writers from "WKRP in Cincinatti" had visited CFNY to get some background material.

Does anyone know if there was any truth to that rumour? If so, what happened? Did any of the material make it to the program?

Given the amount of advance work done in those days for a TV show and that the series aired from Sep 1978 to Apr 1982, I think it's unlikely that there's any truth to it.

But on the other hand, it's an interesting rumour/parallel.

It is true that WKRP's story lines were based on real events that happened in broadcasting. Might also have been something to do with them before the days of cfny, or chic fm. May be related to ckmw as well. The allen brothers were very wkrp worthy..
