Need help identifying 2 songs

Hi Everyone,

This is a great site by the way, thanks to everyone who put it together. I'm looking for 2 songs. I don't have the artists name or title but do have several lines and I think both songs are from the 80's:

First song:

- when you went through the school of hard knocks
- I I I didn't want to rub it in, i just wanted to let you know,
- one day you wake up and it comes as a shock, it isn't something you didn't already know
- I told you, I told you so

Second song:

- You know babe, lifes so short it's passing by
- I want to reach out, reach out and touch someone
- when the moments gone I'm gonna carry on, loving for you
