Looking for titles and artist for some old CFNY songs...
Hello,
I was a huge fan of CFNY in the 80's and very early 90's. There are a few songs CFNY used to play that I would really like to find the title and/or artist for.
Song 1:
Partial lyrics: "What do you like to hear while you're making love" (Deep male voice singer) "Why won't you do those things to me! Why won't you do those things to me!..." (Kindof yelled, or at least sung aggressively here if my memory is correct".
Song 2:
(I may have lyrics slightly wrong for this one but they should are close to this)
"Don't tell me a story, tell me now the one you're dreamin' of. You think you're heaven above, we'll give you what you want"
Song 3:
Title: Aidlevice (probably not spelled right) This was a song by a Austrian band about a guy who fell in love with a princess who demanded he proved his love to her by bringing her a flower called "aidlevice" that only grows on the very top of a mountain. It was a really strange song, sort of House style I think, the chorus went "So if you really love me you will bring me aidlevice" at one point it broke out into an Austrian polka. I'd like to find the correct spelling for the title and/or the artist that created this one.
Song 4:
There was a song that I believe might have been a B-Side to the "You're Love takes Me Higher 12". At one point the male and female singer both yawned after each other. The chorus went something like "I can't help the way I feel about you, the way you bring me down, the way you bring me down now" (or something close to that).
Song 5:
"ISTH! ISTH! ISTH! Insert Song Title Here!" I guess this song was probalby called "Insert Song Title Here!", anyone know the artist?
Song 6:
An industrial song with a scream track (sounded like people screaming on a roller coaster) looped so that it played continuously through the entire song.
If you know the titles and/or artists for any of these songs please let me know what they are.
Thanks,
Kevin Meixner

Song 2 - Maybe "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life. Some lyrics were: "Don't tell me lies, don't be false or untrue it all comes back to you" and "you're looking for love calling heaven above."
Song 3 - "Bring Me Edelweiss" by Edelweiss.
Song 4 - "Paradise" was the name of the song on the b-side. I can't confirm if this is in fact the song since my 12" copy has other versions of "You're Love Takes Me Higher". Some releases of the single would have had "Paradise" on the b-side.

Thanks for the info. anonymous. I now know the names of Song 3 and Song 4. The Song 2 I'm looking for is not "Send me an Angel" though, although it could be another song by Real Life since the voice and music style is very similar to "Send me an Angel".

"I.S.T.H." is by Morbidox, from the CFNY 1992 New Music Search CD.
It's good. Much more memorable by far than anything else on that CD, except perhaps "The Least Machiavellian" by Al and George. All the rest is dreck.

Song #2 is called "Story of Love", and it's a one-hit band who's name escapes me at the moment. It's one of those really rare 12" singles, so I'm sure someone here will remember who does it. I'm tempted to say it was "When in Rome", but I don't think it was them. I'm sure it's the same song, and I remember beatmixing it with "Fly on the Windscreen" by D. Mode--it's almost exactly the same tempo and feel.

I remember now, after a restless night of trying to think of who it was. And of course, once I remembered, it was a simple matter of pulling the 12" out of my collection:
Song #2 is Story of Love, by Voice of America
12" is Story of Love b/w V.O.A. (and the b side is produced by Captain Sensible!)
Virgin UK 1987, the catalogue #VS984 12

"Story Of Love" can be found on "Hardest Hits Volume 3" CD.

Anyone know the name of the "jamboney" instrumental song that was played sometimes when Chris would be live on air.
went something like this
"Jamboney .. yeah yeah we know it" or something similar .. and the rest would be mostly instrumental.

The song is called "Jam On It" by Newcleus.

What about a '86,'87 ish Chris Sheppard staple;
it was pretty much an intrumental track that went
WHY DOES IT HAVE TO BE SO DAMN HARD - to a repetitive hip hop beat.
anyone?

kevpunni: I thought it was "Why does it got to be so damn tough?" (I know exactly the track you're talking about. Had something else in it about "the rhythm of the beat", didn't it? I also wonder what the hell it was.)
Two more obscure ones come to mind: Only heard each of these once but only have a 15-year-old home tape to prove it.
"Take a riiiiide - on the sugar train. (Bow down / to the sacred cow, you'll never know what you missed. Everybody say yeah (yeah!) say thanks (thanks!) that songs like this exist / be a junkie for loooove - be a sucker for success. You are the station on the candy bar express"
OK, one more:
My name is John Johnson, I work in Wisconsin, I work in the lumber mill there... the people I meet as I walk down the street say "Hey, what's your name?" I say "my name is... [recurse until infinity]
Who the heck did these (definitely there were different bands), and where can I find them?

The first one is:
Candybar Express by Love and Money. It came out in April of 1986 on Mercury Records. Just search the web. Shouldn't have a problem getting this. I don't know the second one.

The second one is Yon Yonson, not John Johnson. I remember an obscure band called Yon Yonson, and they may have done a version of it, but it's a traditional song--I remember singing it at summer camp in the early 70s.

It has been a while since the original post, but I think I can be of some help. The very first song Kevin Meixner asks about is "Bob's Yer Uncle" Happy Mondays from 1990's Pills, Thrills and Bellyaches. Although I don't recall CFNY playing this song, those are the lyrics. I would also like to say 'allo to everyone...this is really amazing.

I think Yon Yonson was a song by the Dave Howard Singers.
