I've seen the lyrics graciously added somewhere on this site but no mention of who sings it. Help?!

Anony - It's done by Streetband. They had one Paul "Wherever I Lay My Hat" Young in their ranks.

Toast was performed by a group called Streetband.

The lead singer was Paul Young, who became a British 1980s star in his own right.

Unfortunately the self-titled album that Toast was on became very rare when the label that released it went bancrupt. CFNY had an old seven-inch single which they finally transferred onto a cart and later onto DAT, when it became rather battered.

I haven't checked to see if it ever came out on CD or any '80s compilations. It was very much a CFNY hit and I suspect it wasn't very well known anywhere else.

There's brown bread and white bread, all sorts of wholemeal bread,
It comes in funny packages wirg writing on the side......

Toast was released on cd in Japan,
on a Paul Young Complilation.

I have the orginal double album with Toast,
if anyone wants me to burn them a copy of the track...

www.gemm.com has wuite a few copies for sale as well...

This song was released on a CD called:

Paul Young - The Early Years

It was released in the UK on Connoisseur in 1991.

Catalogue # VSOP CD 160

This has been deleted.

As mentioned above try GEMM or eBay.
