Greetings,
Another sign of aging: I have been taxing my mind, sadly to no avail, trying to remember what CFNY used to call its independent band competitions in the late 80's-early-90's.
More Specifically, I was wondering if anyone knows if the compilation cd's that were issued (featuring the winners) would be availiable on GEMM, etc... (I can't search without knowing the name)? My foggy mind knows that Prayer Tower was featured on one of the releases
Even more specifically, does anyone have a year/track listing available. I am trying to find 2 songs:
A: A song about \"area 51\" or \"Hanger 18\" - I have no idea about band name/song title.
B: A song with the final line of the refrain being \"I'm a social disease...\" It may have been by Industrial Artz, but that is just a vague guess.
Sorry for the questions based on forgetting, but if anyone can refresh my memory it will be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!
Thank you both for the time and thought put into your posts. You've managed to get me back on the map, so now I can hunt with the appropriate information.
Warm Regards,

Hi SEHinton,
Sorry, no download links here but have the 1988 \"FM-102 Great Ontario Modern Rock\" LP and niether of your songs listed are on that release. \"Soshul Duhzeez\" is by Industrial Artz( a 1990 outfit comprised mainly of Leon Stevenson of The Extra's) I have the song on vinyl E.P. and will post it here hopefully in the next few weeks (to purchase required hardware/software to rip vinyl)
** hey any vinyl rippers out there? Hoping for a Boxing Day special on the $200.00 turntable(mock Numark) and software program at The Source (CDN) Any tips for ripping vinyl appreciated!

Maybe gone, but The Spirit lives on...
I have been ripping my vinyl (I have thousands - click the yellow link at the top left of this screen) for years now.
I use a couple of pro (1200) turntables with Stanton 680 EL cartridges, going through a pro mixer into a Sony MDS-JE520 minidisc recorder, which I use for it's incredible A/D converter. This goes via fiber optic into my external sound card, and I then use Adobe Audition to record and edit.
All of this, of course, is not required - but it makes for great recordings.
If I could give any one piece of advice - use Adobe Audition. It has incredible editing facilities, including one of the best pop/scratch eliminators I've ever used.

Thanks! I've got the turntables/mixer part covered. Just looking for something simple though. I dont want to rip and get rid of my vinyl, just rip a few songs here and there. I don't know what kind of program the $200.00 Source/Radio Shack vinyl ripping set up I mentioned consists of.. Was looking more in the range of 'freeware' and connecting an RCA cable from a turntable to my computer. The Adobe program ($350.00 us) little rich for my blood! Want to keep it simple...Fibre optic cables and external soundcards are Greek to me. Need I say more.. Thanks again though.
