A lot of this has been recently reissued and released.
Please Support the bands so we get more great releases!!
I am sure you would love to help out great bands like, The Spoons, Blue Peter, Martha & the Muffins and many more.
Would hate to see this forum/site shut down.
You have no respect for the artists!! I have no problem with out-of-print, but it really pisses me off when a band like Martha & the Muffins and Blue Peter just reissued and remastered cds and you have the balls to share it! You (Smoke) were warned on another forum and that's when you started sharing here, offering far too may songs that are available on CD.

This board is so small & relatively unknown that I don't see how that would be trouble .Untill Canada changes its laws reguarding this matter there no concern from harm as the Canadian People are protected from p2p lawsuits!
I would have to imagine a person would have to try to prophet of a downloaded song before any laws would be broken!
If you can turn on a radio & hear a tune play VS downloading it for your own personal pleasure .......Whats the differance?????
Nobody ever asked for a fee to post a track nor offer to purchace it!
P2P lawsuits are the result of greed , cause they felt with the addition of the internet , they were missing out on a possible cashcow(that never exsited)
I wouldn't worry about that too much.Other boards I've seen take the certain song posts a bit too extreme!

This is such a small user group that it flies under the radar. I do not believe that the intent of people on the site is to profit in any way from any of the downloads...it's strictly personal use.
I personally do not have a problem purchasing cd's.... whether they be present, older or re-issues. I like the challenge of finding something obscure, like most of us. Let's face it.... a lot of the songs on these posts are \"one-hit-wonders\" that will never be commercially available again in any form.
Besides... I can guarantee that MOST of us have, over the last 25-30 years,paid considerable amounts of money for music in spades by the sheer size of our vinyl collections past or present.That is why we share what we have. Someone made money off of us at one time or another ,whether it be the artist or the label.
This debate will always have 2 sides..those for and against.
I hear there are a brazillion blog sites sharing tunes and entire albums these days! But I'm looking for an mp3 to add to my personal collection from an old XTC album from 1986. Two songs that CFNY played that meld together on the album; Summers Cauldron/Grass. If anyone has this and can record this on a cassette tape and mail it to me I would greatly appeciate it! I love these pen-pal groups! No wait! This is 2008! CD rippers and z-share is much quicker now! God love technology!!

The real problem is that Music stores no longer cater to everyone anymore.
These days unless its something Muchmusic is trying to \"Shovel\" off on the public (reminds me of how baby birds are fed!).....You'll never find much on the artists that were played back in the day!
The death of Sam the record man & others leave us all in the lurch for music of a by gone era!
So in the here & now we have to put up with the Plastic World of TooMuchMusic & Their REGURGITATED style!
Ever heard of Amazon? How about the Ideal Copy? Wait there's more! iTunes, ImportCds.com, Ebay, CD Baby...the list goes on...
Most record stores went out long ago and internet took over...that's right you know all about the internet for FREE MUSIC!
Again, I don't have a problem with out-of-print...but if you continue to share stuff that is in print, recently released, you have no respect for the artists.

You may have noticed recently that the streaming radio station on this site has disappeared - another victim to the short-sighted RIAA bureaucrats.
You may think that this site "flies under the radar," but in this age of search engines, there really is no such thing anymore.
I don't have a problem with people using this forum for trying to help each other find old, out of print and commercially unavailable items. However, if we do want to keep the forum and the site, we really do need to try to keep the offering of copies of currently available and recently released material off the forums. I run this site as a labor of love, and I do not have the resources for a protracted legal fight should the site draw enough attention to do so. Let's try to keep that from happening.
I have not censored these forums before, and I'd really like to try to keep it that way.
I wrote a reply yesterday but it seems to have been lost in space so if this seems familiar please forgive me.
Colossal record company inertia is what led to this problem. Once the major labels did away with the single (CD single-Cassingle) in the early 90's and jacked CD prices through the roof the consumer rebelled and this is the result.
If you are truly worried about artists, intellectual property and copyright infringement then don't go to the library and photocopy or scan a page. Don't share a recipe or PVR your favorite show. Don't record 2 minutes of a concert on your phone, watch a video on Youtube or backup a CD or DVD. And, of course, don't forward any of this in an email.
Active listeners are a rare breed. They share music at home, at work or over the internet and that is what makes sites like this so special and valuable. Passive listeners tune to adult contemporary radio, watch MTV, Much and Canadian Idol. They are absorbed into thinking that bands like Nickelback are cool and foolishly complain about sites like this with which they are long standing members.
Some of the tracks that are enjoyed here would most certainly be lost if it wasn't for the kindness and charity of some extraordinary music collectors and members.

This site is rare and one of a kind and immeasurably valuable to people like me.I cannot stand mainstream music-mostly because it has no energy and is boring,predictable.It has no style.I do not anymore either but I can assure you that in 1987 when I listened to bands like new order,the silencers,the smithereens,modern english,etc. I had style then because I had a kind of music that others who liked bon-jovi and madonna could not relate to.I do not hate those 2 artists now because I am older and a little wiser but I still,even as a devout christian,prefer new wave and synth music by far.It gives me energy,it has style,it is powerful and most of all,very creative.
Thanks for this site.When I lived in Houston in the 80s,I used to club at places like detour and club planet and numbers.Bands like boytronic,pluuto,telekin,sa42,section 25,dirty harry,robotiko rejikto,front 242,steven duffy,camouflage,ultravox,poisie noire,cccp,voyou,until december,erasure,and cetu javu were played so loud and sounded so powerful and energetic that I literally got high from the tunes combined with the beautiful women.It blew me away.Dancing was truly fun.Now it is a lost art for me because I do not and will not dance to rap or any oyther music.
The lack of good old modern music from 79-88 reminds me of this other love of mine.I collect old and rare football games from the 1970s.It is illegal to sell or distribute them but guess what?The nfl does not make them available so what can we fans do?You see,the musicians own the right to the music,perfectly understandable-but if they do not promote or sell it,what good is it doing for them,and also for us struggling people who love their music?I do not see much of an option.Thanks to smoke and gargoyle and all the others on this beautiful site.You got my support!!God bless!!

You couldn't find 97% of this music in a CD store if your life depended on it!
The 'big deal' is that pure and simple it puts the site at risk of being shut down if material that's available for purchase continues to be offered here.
If it's a rare and obscure track that can't be gotten thru the market, then there is possibly less chance that it will draw undesireable fire from the industry.
Even though we may feel that it's a loophole that allows any sharing here at all, in it's essence it's still having enjoyment of something to which someone else holds the license. It's a drag and it sucks, but that's the reality.
There are crap loads of blogs that offer this stuff unabashedly.
Perhaps they should be the new avenue of access for getting the music and leave the spirit site to do what it does best.

Third I never spoke to you over at NWO or was on your back, you were warned by the Admins over there to STOP, not me and you continued on until you were asked to stop or leave, that is when you took it over here. FWIW, Martha and the Muffins, Blancmange and The Mood have recently released reissues/remasters CDs, and I am working with them to promote the releases. Support the artists so they continue to release material. It also pisses me off that music from the Retro:Active series is bring shared, yet everyone wants to know when the next release will be after it was noted that sales were not good, why would they be when people can get them for free...like I said I have no problem with out-of-print!! Or why not take it private so that the masses are not getting this stuff.
And I agree with Zill - you \"...toss about mp3 files with reckless abandon\"
One last thing...the owner of this site even said not to do it, so I guess you have no respect for him as well.
