Help! unknown song/artist

ok, heres one from the 80s (when else!!) thats killing me-
'metro metropolitain life, da-da-da-daa-da-da-da-da, metro metropolitain life, youre on a street that never ends..'
ive tried every combination of words but no luck searching.
any ideas??

Does anybody know who sang the song Rubber Girl, which CFNY-FM used to play in the late seventies. I thought is was Tim Weisberg, but a friend of mine thinks it was the Pukka Orchestra, whom I'm sure didn't record til the turn of the decade.

The Pukka Orchestra was the artist of Rubber Girl.
